This paper presents the Medical Plant Wealth of Andhra Pradesh based on the results of Medico – Ethno – Botanical exploration undertaken during the last fourteen years (1971 – 72 till the end of 1984). In all, 117 well known medicinal plants widely used in Ayurveda, Siddha and other systems of Medicine are enumerated here.

Till this date, Modern Medicine has not offered any satisfactory remedy for Jaundice. In contrast, Traditional Medicine and Tribal practices have been rescuing the patients since time immemorial. Presented in this article are some of such remedies rediscovered by the authors in the Dandakaranya area during the Ethno – Botanical Surveys.

In this article, 26 folKlore claims on Antifertility, Abortifacient and Fertility – promoting drugs gathered from the tribals of Dandakaranya during the Medico–Ethno–Botanical explorations undertaken by the authors are presented. suggesting scientific screening of these claims for establishing their validity and acceptability so as to make use of them, with modifications if any, in the National Family Welfare Programmes.

7.  URGINEA NAGARJUNAE HEMADRI ET SWAHARI A NEW SPECIES OF ULIACEAE FROM INDIA (A NEW PLANT DISCOVERY)

A new species of Urginea Steinhill. located in Andhra Pradaah and Tamilnadu (India), namely Urginea negarjunae Hemadri et Swaharl which produces the thickest scape coupled with the largest and closely arranged flowers and nonreflexed tepals among all the Indian species so far recorded under Urginea Steinhill, is described with illustrations. Chromosomal study revealed that the new taxon is not a polyploid; its 2n = 20

Information on 22 claims of Tribal and other Folk-lore Medicine on Rheumatism, gathered from the aboriginals and villagers of Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Orissa States is presented in this article, proposing an indepeth study into these claims on the same lines as those formulated for Ayurvedic research and in accordance with the advice of the author of Dhanwantari Nighantu, vido Slokas 6 & 7.
