(A and B) Bacterial growth curves in culture media with Van/Fe3O4@SiO2@Ag microflowers. Different concentrations of vancomycin-modified Ag microflowers were used in the cultures of (A) Escherichia coli and (B) methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). The growth of the bacteria was measured by determination of optical density (OD) at wavelength of 600 nm. (C) Photographs showing viability of E. coli and MRSA after treatment under different synthesized products at a concentration of 20 μg mL−1: (i) control group, (ii) Fe3O4@SiO2, (iii) Fe3O4@SiO2–Ag seed, (iv) Fe3O4@SiO2@Ag microflowers, (v) Van/Fe3O4@SiO2@Ag microflowers, and (vi) free-form vancomycin.
