The process of radical change embarked upon since the previous issue of this journal continues, with the sole aim of attaining and maintaining the highest quality of scientific standard. Hence, along with the change in style and substance, there is also a gradual shift in strategic focus. However, due care is taken to retain organizational representativeness while catering to such a large and very diverse readership comprising servicemen, exservicemen, civilians, scientists and research organizations, both at the national and international levels.
Value addition, in the form of a guest column has been introduced in this issue and will feature regularly in forthcoming issues. Very soon full text of the journal will be available on the internet, the modalities of which are being worked out with National Informatics Centre, New Delhi. Modern Medicine as it stands today, is a result of the untiring efforts of thousands of men and women grappling with the most vexing issues in its realm.
However, the contribution of the past pioneers of the world of Medicine cannot be underestimated or forgotten. In fact, that is the bedrock of the present achievements and where Medicine stands today. In keeping with this line of thought, a column on medical philately has been introduced, to pay tribute to those who achieved so much, with so little resources, in such trying times. The Editorial Board is unflinchingly committed to highlighting and spreading the success and achievements in the field of Medicine and the increasing efforts involved in meeting newer challenges which arise.
