PATIENT SAFETY & HEALTH CARE: REPLY

The author agrees that the ‘problem based learning strategy’ as proposed inculcates a sense of cooperation and is closely linked to evidence based practice. This will definitely lead to a higher standard of patient care, as far as clinical decision making is concerned. Such an approach in the form of regular clinical meetings is already in vogue in the Armed Forces Medical Services. Whether such a strategy has the potential to change the culture of ‘name it, blame it, shame it’ is doubtful. Much more attitude changes are required at the highest levels if a change in organizational culture is to be brought about in healthcare.
