This is the first issue of Therapeutic Advances in Neurological Disorders. On behalf of the Associate Editors (Alberto Albanese, Marinos Dalakas and Matthew Walker) and our International Editorial Board, I would like to welcome you to the journal.
Our aim is to publish editorials, reviews and original research articles that advance clinical practice in this rapidly developing area of medicine. Essential elements of the journal include rapid peer review and publication so that latest opinion and evidence may be circulated to a wide audience. We encourage you to submit articles to us for this purpose. The Associate Editors and International Editorial Board bring together a wealth of experience and knowledge to this journal, which will help facilitate our high standard of publishing. We aim to complete peer review and reach a first decision on a paper within 3 weeks; accepted articles will be published online within 7 weeks. We will set high standards in peer review, with each research and review article being reviewed by at least two referees.

Therapeutic Advances in Neurological Disorders is the fourth title in Sage's Therapeutic Advances series, following Cardiovascular and Respiratory disease titles launched last year, and a Gastroenterology journal last month. All the titles, including this one, will be freely available on Highwire for the first two volumes – until 2010 in our case. We aim to make the journal an attractive option for authors seeking a home for their articles.
We will be publishing bi-monthly from July 2008, with 3 issues this year and 6, annually, thereafter. Please join us in making this journal a timely and successful addition to the dissemination of information on improved treatment of neurological disorders.
