I would like to begin my first instalment with a big thank you to Dr. Jerzy Gajewski and his team for a wonderful CUA Annual Meeting in PEI. Thanks to Ian Reid and Mike Mulligan, we enjoyed tantalizing social events with Chef Michael Smith. Ricardo Rendon, along with his team, prepared an intellectually stimulating scientific program.
Next year, our 66th Annual Meeting is heading to la belle province – in the energetic city of Montréal! Our host hotel is the Fairmont Queen Elisabeth Hotel – in the heart of the city. As Canada’s second largest city, Montréal is certainly proud of its French and European heritage. As President of the CUA, I would like to personally invite you to join us from June 19–21, 2011 and help continue the tradition of making the CUA Annual Meeting our most successful educational event of the year.
This is an exciting time for the CUA. This fall we will see the emergence of an independent organization with a new director, Andrée Bélanger who, with Denis Lavoie and Stewart Oake and the excellent CUA staff, will help channel the organization forward. The OE under the guidance of Peter Anderson will continue to grow and become even more successful. Over the next year we hope to see more developments from the strategic planning document come to fruition. Dr. Gajewski, thank you for passing the torch to me. I take this position, as CUA President, seriously and will do my best to serve CUA members and the growing urological community.
