Molecular imaging is becoming a critical component of many academic and industrial programs. With the advent of translational research programs, a wide variety of imaging techniques are being employed to support both discovery and screening programs. In addition, a number of imaging techniques typically reserved for clinical inquiry are being employed in research programs, due to the integrative nature of genomics-based applications. An overview of imaging techniques used for molecular diagnostics will be discussed, in addition to cutting-edge protocols used to enhance existing molecular-imaging techniques.
