I am very pleased to announce that Scotty (Pamela) Anderson and Jeff Kowalak have been elected to the ABRF Executive Board, with their terms beginning January 1, 2006. We had an outstanding slate of candidates this year, and I thank all who participated in this process. Scotty and Jeff will be replacing Susan Hardin and Kristine Swiderek. Susan and Kristine have been fantastic colleagues on the board, and their vision and efforts on behalf of the ABRF are very much appreciated. Furthermore, we owe an extra heartfelt thanks to Kristine for serving as President of the ABRF. They will be missed on the board, but we look forward to their continued service to the association and their fellowship at the meetings.

This year, in association with Thermo Electron, the Travel Award for attendance at the ABRF 2006 National Meeting was increased to $1,000 plus registration to the meeting. We thank Thermo Electron for their generous support of these awards. Ten awards were made, and I look forward to meeting the awardees at the meeting. All the arrangements for the organization of the National Meeting, ABRF 2006, are well underway, and I believe it will be one of our best meetings, in large part due to the efforts of Al Smith and Phil Andrews, the meeting organizers, and Bill Lane, the executive board liaison. The Executive Board will be hosting a Research Group and Committee Chairs’ meeting immediately before the opening of the meeting. This year, we will be soliciting suggestions from the chairs and their research groups and committees for the organization of ABRF 2007. Furthermore, we will be discussing new ideas and projects for the Research Groups and Committee for the upcoming year. In my opinion, our Research Groups and Committees represent the lifeblood of the ABRF, and I strongly encourage members to join these groups and actively participate in your association.
