The DNA Sequencing Research Group (DSRG) would like to introduce its newest members: David Needleman, from the University of Texas; and Heather Lin, from the University of Utah. In 2002, the DSRG conducted an online survey to identify the new developments in DNA Core Sequencing Facilities over the last two years. The initial data were presented at ABRF 2003 and compared with results from an earlier survey (2000). The poster of the Survey results (pdf format) can now be downloaded from the ABRF website. http://www.abrf.org/ResearchGroups/DNASequencing/EPosters/DSRGsurvey2003ABRF.pdf
At ABRF 2003, the DSRG made two presentations. John Hawes presented preliminary data from the Sequencing Difficult Template Study and Rashmi Pershad presented the summary of 2003 DSRG Survey results. The DSRG members are currently preparing the ranking tables from the 2003 study. The top three protocols for each instrument will be included in the pdf version of the 2003 study poster. It will soon be available at the ABRF website.
The Round Table session was chaired by Tim Hunter. There was considerable discussion and audience participation. It was the last session of the meeting and we still had over 120 participants! Thanks to all who attended.
