Dear Fellow ABRF Members:
I hope those of you who attended ABRF 2007 in Tampa are still thinking back with fond memories of the outstanding meeting the organizers, Katherine Lilley, Andy Brooks, and Thomas Neubert arranged. The scientific talks were of the highest caliber and the sessions were incredibly informative. Prior to the opening of the meeting, two workshops were held—one on protein expression and the other on quantitative proteomics, organized by Michael Doyle and Sue Weintraub, respectively. They were both well attended and provided a very thorough introduction to the state of the art in these fields. Numerous Research Committees presented their results from the past year’s studies, and we expect to see these published in the near future, underscoring the value and quality of the projects. At the end of the meeting we welcomed Michelle Detwiler and Chris Turck as our new Executive Board members, replacing Margaret Robertson and Bill Lane. Board member Scottie Anderson is replacing Margaret as the Treasurer.
In the upcoming year, in addition to new projects for the Research Groups and Committees, we expect to make advances in broadening the scope of the ABRF to include other areas of biomolecular technology that have yet to receive our attention. It is our hope that this will serve to enrich our association and strengthen our future. I look forward to input from the membership as we move forward. Best wishes for a wonderful summer.
