I hope many of you had the opportunity to attend ABRF 2007 in Tampa. It was an outstanding meeting that truly delivered on its objectives: high quality science, innovative technological developments, insightful studies by the Research Groups and Committees, as well a numerous opportunities for education and networking. I wish to thank Kathryn Lilley, Tom Neubert, and Andy Brooks for their fantastic efforts in putting this together, along with the help of Nancy Copen and Jean Lash from FASEB.
The Executive Board has installed its two new members, Chris Turk and Michelle Detwiler, replacing Margaret Robinson and Bill Lane. I look forward to working with Chris and Michelle, and the contributions they will make to the association. In addition, I wish to announce that Scottie Adams will serve as Treasurer. Scottie has worked closely with Margaret for the past six months in preparation for taking over the position, and I am confident that Scottie will continue the tradition of excellent fiscal management for the ABRF.
Acting on the outcome of the Journal of Biomolecular Techniques survey conducted by the Survey Committee, we are beginning the process of moving the journal to an electronic format. We expect this process to be complete within the upcoming year. Ultimately, the transition will provide electronic access to the JBT on your desktop and save the membership the costs associated with printing and mailing.
Finally, I hope that you all manage to take some time to relax and recharge during the summer with your families and friends.
