The pain of venous cannulation

Many nurses and physicians seem not to be aware of the difference, even with the finest needle, that a trace of remaining alcohol makes. I would plead with all concerned to allow sufficient time for alcohol to evaporate. It truly can make the difference between a painless shot and a stinging one.
